Worship is a cry
to God from our heart to His. It is the ultimate expression
of love and gratitude to a loving Creator. We surrender
our lives, our dignity, our “space” to proclaim
the worth of the sacrifice of love our Savior, Jesus
Christ, made for us on the cross. The Holy Lamb of God
who, though sinless, was tortured and killed, bearing
the agony of our pain and our sin in His body to provide
the way to His Father’s presence.
We sing, dance, shout, and lift our
hands and hearts to a holy, perfect, gracious, loving
God who ardently calls to His beloved creation, “Come
to me and I will heal your pain. I will give you rest.”
We are called to surrender our pitiful
excuses and the rationalizations we use to keep ourselves
at a distance. He wants us. He longs for our fellowship.
Worship at Desert Rock Fellowship
is central to who we are as a church. The goal our worship
is to meet God in His throne room, joining the Elders,
the redeemed saints, the angels and the Four Living
Creatures in praising the Holy Lamb of God and the Father
by the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Because we value relationship
over ritual, you will immediately notice that our gatherings
are marked by casual dress and, usually, a very relaxed
atmosphere. We value creating a comfortable place to
worship and have fellowship with a minimum emphasis
on religious formality.
Our music is decidedly contemporary,
with a repertoire that includes songs from Vineyard,
Kingsway's ThankYou Music, Maranatha, and many others.
We love the "new hymns" of contemporary worship
leaders such as Matt Redman (Better is One Day, and
others), Delirious' Martin Smith (I Could Sing of Your
Love Forever), Brian Doerksen (Light the Fire Again)
and Chris Tomlin (We Fall Down) to name a few.
Our Worship Team that usually consists
of a piano/keyboard, electric bass, electric and acoustic
guitar, drums, and of course vocalists. Worshipping
the Lord in song is a very high priority, so we usually
spend 40-45 minutes communing together with God in music.
We make time for spontaneous songs from the Lord should
they come, and time for a word to be spoken or simply
times of quiet in which to silently seek the Lord's
face.
Teaching is designed to give
both practical direction to our daily lives and an opportunity
to thank and praise God for all He has done. We want
you to have the freedom to express thanks and praise
to God in various ways. You may see people dancing,
waving banners, or simply lying prostrate before their
Lord. Our informal motto is, "It's OK."
In
keeping with our stated purpose of helping birth what
God is doing in people, our Senior Pastor, Steve, shares
the pulpit with several other members. You may see Steve
or one of the elders or other leaders to whom God has
given word to share.
Time for prayer ministry is
provided after each service. Each week a selected group
of people are available to minister to your prayer needs,
whether it be for problems, praises or a need for comfort.
This "afterglow" ministry may extend well
into the afternoon for those who need the time. Please
feel free to join in as the Spirit leads you.
